help with fuel cut

well recently(15 minutes ago) i got my crx running that has an mpfi swap. its an 89 dx 5 speed and i am hitting fuel cut at like 5400 rpms, shouldnt i be hitting like 6600 rpm fuel cut or could my tach just be fubar cuz the car sounds like its revving to the ------- moon while it still remains relatively slow. i have a feeling its either my tach is off, my dx fuel pump cant handle it, or its the rt4wd 5 speed ecu im using. could it be one of those things doing this to me? help i have an install planned for next saturday

Im thinking it is a tach problem.I used a wagovan PM6 with my MPFI swap and had no problems. As well I used a factory dx/cx fuel pump even while boosted and had no problems for the time I used it.Do you have another PM6 around to verify against?Glad to hear you got it running none the less.

Any Check engine lights?

You should be able to tell the difference between a 5400 limiter and 7000 ;) Factory tachs can be off, but that seems a bit werid, does it idle and run normal?

yea it idles and runs fine other then this although it is a little on the for lack of other terms"bucky" side. i noticed it only does this when i slam the pedal to the floor, if i slowly apply the throttle which is at times hard to do it doesnt cut and the tach goes up to 6.5 easily. so idk im confused as a mother fucker

ok it is throwing a code 10 and 20 and after a while opf driving a code 17 also. if i slowly apply the gas it revs up to 6 then cuts but if i slam it it just instantl;y cuts out and boggs really bad. idk whats going on but it pisses me off. i just changed the plugs the battery and the fuel filter today also in an attempt to try and fix this cuz i have my install planned for satuday ::) i just want to get it running at its prime or my install = :3/ :X

Re: help with fuel cut

Code 10 is IAT intake air temperature.Maek sure you have the right plug on it I believe there is a extra plug left over from a DX harness.Code 17 is VSS the speed sensor, Is your speedo operating properly? If not check that the sensor is plugged in the tranny firmly and in the back of the speddo firmly. The IAT should have 1-4ohms if you unlup the connector and cheack resitance arcoss the terminals if not replace it.If there is then check that you have roughly 5 v at the plug with the ignition on.The electrical load detector is a mystery mine was always there but it does not trip the CEL so I just left it alone as it has no effect on the.

yea i knew what all of those codes mean but would they have any of these affects on my car? and i drove it again and it feels almost like when i apply a lil to much throttle it starts to run on 3 cylinders then randomly kicks in and out

Re: help with fuel cut

I would deal with the codes first. IAT code 10 especially as I'm not positive but it probably would effect drivability.

Re: help with fuel cut

MPFI swap that falls on it's face WOT = forgot to swap outer two wires on TPS. Your TPS tells the ECU that the throttle is completely closed at WOT, so it cuts fuel.
