I think you just answered your own question...

" i just took it out and put a new rear main but i guess when i put it back together some thing wasnt put back right."

Time to pull it apart again and investigate :(

Sure, i have guesses... if it wasn't leaking before the main seal replacement, but it was afterwards, then i'd say that it is likely the rear main seal. But the only way to be sure is to pull it apart and look. Otherwise i could sit here and guess until the sun goes down, but you'll still need to pull it apart to find out what the problem really is.

As for the rattling, it could be a number of things, but my first guess is going to be a bolt that was not tightened down all the way has come loose, and is either hitting things, causing very bad damage, or it is just out completely, and bouncing around. Either that or maybe its something to do with the rear main seal, and perhaps a clue as to why it is leaking ;)

Re:help

It sounds like the input seal and bearing on the transmission went bad. Check the oil level in the transmission to see if it has lost some fluid. I would not delay in repairing the problem since the play in the shaft will cause other problems. The loss of that bearing is usually followed by the breakage of one of the shifter forks.

Check the fluid level in the transmission and I think you will find it needs oil. If you drain it, check for metal shavings.

Re:help

Sometimes people install rear mains incorrectly (cough beau) and have to redo it (cough cough beau) You have to clean the edge of the crank real good, and make sure the seal is seated correctly. Also make sure its not the backside of the oil pan seal (cough beau)
