Damn, I've never had that much faith in the heli coils

They are great for little things, I've used them to thread a spark plug hole once in an aluminum head, worked good.

Keep us posted as to if it works out for you. Drop another line in a few months to let us know about yoru progress (or failures).

Ya know, if you live in casinoville, that means there are pawn shops around, pawn shops equal tools and ----.

dame if it works let me know, i had a Ls/VTEC and three head studs were threaded out and i had to put heli-coils in the block. and right as i crank the motor over, i heard a knocking sound in the block.....so i took the whole motor out and put in a JDM Gen 2 B16A i had just sitting around.

The block is still around, and i want to fully repair it, but not sure if because it has heli-coils, if it is worth it.

Yeah, i know you have to drill and tap the hole first, but even after that, and cleaning the threads up really nice, the damn helicoil wouldnt go in all the way. The other one was fine, but this one wouldnt go any more than halfway down, pissed me off.

if you buy the kit, there is a little piece that is threaded to help sort of squeeze the coil so you can install it down in the hole. make sure you put lok-tite in the hole. i also installed a bolt for the 24 hr cure time.

On my last intake manifold (sbc) I had a stripped thread for the carb bolts. I got this ---- from the auto parts store from loctite or permatex or whatever that was thread repair using a binary epoxy type setup. After some learning, it worked. Fill the hole with one one liquid, coat the bolt with the other, thread it in. The liquid on the bolt makes it not stick, the other ---- hardens, and it worked. Cheaper then a heli coil kit from the auto parts store, would have had to drill out my expensive *** edelbrock carb if i wanted to tap to something bigger. Just to let ya'll know.

hmmmmmm...I though of doing that once with JB-weld....stick some jb-weld in...spary the bolt with WD-40 and thread it in.
the WD40 shoudl keep the jb-weld from sticking to the bolt.
