Default headgasket revisited...

came home today, here's the deal

reservoir full and boiling
temp gauge normal
no smoke
no oil/coolant mix

what the ----? i woulda thought it would overheat.

but what you think? headgasket? air pocket?

One rule I have learned is never trust the factory honda temp gauge

Hmm.I would try bleeding the coolant system and then try a pressure test on the coolant system.

well yeah but it isnt even climbing past that normal 3/8 of the way up mark they all sit at.

and it heats up normally and holds it there perfect...who knows, i have that one low cylinder, but i guess it could still just be an air pocket. i bled that thing for freaking ever tho.

heres another trick to check for hg

if you have that coolant valve open it to air it out
wait till its completely air free and rev it a bit with ur finger

bubbles come back ------->hg

I thought the same on mine.. I noticed the rad was low on coolant so I topped up the overflow bottle (engine was too warm to open rad). Next day I took off the rad cap to burp the system of all air. about 20 seconds after starting the coolant level in the rad just rose. nothing bubbled out but it rose to the point of overflowing the rad so i just threw the cap back on it.

maybe that can help...
