Headgasket? or ??

This is a higher mileage b18a1, never been boosted, heads never been pulled from the block, nothing like that.

car compression tests right in the high 170's cept for cylinder 3 which tests 150-153ish.

car does not smoke
car does not burn oil
car does not lose fluid

headgasket maybe? not really sure what to think right away...cant really think its a ringland or anything since its never seen boost and theres no oil loss.

could be the valve seat too.

put a table spoon of oil into the cylinder and run the test again. if reading shoots up then the rings are worn. if not then it is the HG or valve/valve seat, which can be pin pointed out by a leak down test

anyway. I`d run it until it blows up :P

I'd guess rings.

Hook compressed air into the cyl at TDC, then listen for where you hear the loudest hiss indicating leakage... oil filler, intake, exhaust, does the radiator spew coolant everywhere when you pop the cap, etc.

ill give that a shot the next time I am in a garage, who knows when that will be...

it doesnt seem to be a problem right now, doesnt overheat or lose any fluids, i mostly tested it out of curiosity.

It was spewing coolant out of the radiator, but I had a hole in a hose and once I fixed that and bled the air out of the system it stopped.

Yesterday I had to replace a bunch of ----, I bought new plugs and wires, all the plugs were fouled and one of the tips of the spark plug was not screwed on and the little end was stuck in the wire. Then I got to Mike's house and the ignitior burnt out, lucky we had a few spares. It turned out that the screw in the neg terminal on the ignitor was too long so the contact wasn't solid or tight, probably explains alot of the problems i had in the past when i got this swap finished.

Problems left to deal with:
- bent butterfly in throttle body, looks like a warped flange, and wont close all the way.
- surging idle (found a chunk of silicone inside the coolant area on the bottom of the IACV) cleaned it out but idle is still funky.
- get zeitronix + crome working right, and tune the damn thing.
