I took my b18a head to a shop to be resurfaced and the tech told me he needed my head gasket also.Why he said to make sure the head was flat ive never had any other shop ask for my gasket when I have had other heads done. Dose anyone know why or what he wants my gasket for? thanks

I asked, he said to make sure the head was flat. And I know for a fact that it is not the way to check head flatness! I have been a motocycle tech for many years and all the motors I have built I never checked a head the way he said heance the reason I did not leave the head with him I ended up taking it out of town for the work. I was just wanting others opinions or thoughts. thank you for anyone that has viewd this question.

 

when i got my head resurfaced they did not even need the head gasket i got it done at a napa machine shop.

 

i would bring it to another shop!!! but really, i've got alot of heads done at my local shop and he never asked for the old head gaskets>
