Default Head Studs. ???

ok well as most peeps know i blew the ---- out of my A6 well a buddy of mine gave me a d16y5 (97 Civic HX Vtec-E) motor(block and head Seperated) and im at a loss, will the head studs from my A6 work in the y5 ? i dont wanna get everything together seeing as how my damn head gasket costed 70 buxx and have it not bolt down. )= please only leave input if you have done this before! thanks hmt!

I doubt you will find someone who has done that before, but I would say it should work since you are using the same head. From what I have seen you use the studs for what head you are using, but I can't say for sure.

it should work. when i did my buddy's a6/y8 minime i put head studs in it and one of the holes in the block was more shallow than the rest. this made the threads way too high to allow the nut to tighten up. what i did was cut the factory head bolts off and got the machined washers off. then using lots of ARP lube stacked the washers to make up the extra difference to let the nut tighten up.

ok, now that everyone is confused, it works, runs awesome, and has had 0 problems in over 20k miles with lots of hard driving.

basically, just stud the thing, lay the head up there and see if there is anything that looks out of place. but I think it will work just fine.
