Re:head gasket removal???

u mean the procedue for pulling the head? just scrape it off the block/head, but dont usng anything sharp. you dont want to scratch the metal surfaces.

i dull down a horizontal razor blade and use that.. works great

just dont use a screwdriver u have no control with that.

then just get the head milled a bit.

we did one this weekend, 3 cans of gasket remover and a gasket scraper from the autoparts store. the dude had blown the head gasket and run for a long while .. it was totally baked but it all came off after some hard scraping, rember only go one layer at a time dont take the whole gasket off at once.

ok do i have to get it milled? the block is still in the car,& i don't really want to pull it. how do you keep from getting the old gasket and the gasket remover from getting inside the water sleeve. will it hurt any thing if it does get in it?. what about the pistons will it hurt the tops? or cyl. walls?
