Default halfshaft/tranny oil seal headache

ok so i think im slowly losing my mind. i have an 88 crx si with a 91 ls using ls axles and intermediate shaft that i swapped in about a year ago. so far, so great, except about 3 weeks ago i dropped out of 5th while on the highway. i was heading to work, so i let it be for the day, but i pretty much knew my fluid was low. i was right.....i drained the tranny which was almost bone dry. i filled it with some motor oil so i could find the leak and it was dribbling out of the oil seal drivers side. i ordered the part (91205-PL3-B01), installed it....still leaking. i even tried going back and setting it slightly outward from flush as to maybe get a better seal with the halfshaft lip. i ordered another one that i have on standby but before i start again, am i missing something? i know im not overfilling my trans. the fluid drips out more and more as you approach operating temp. could the halfshaft lip have shifted somehow? i park in the same place everyday, so i know the trans wasnt leaking for long (no puddle). any ideas would be awesome. i had just finished tuning my engine and would like to get on the road to some autoX. thanks ---chris

edge of seal flush with case.......

B01 = LS/ZC seal, so you have the correct part......

I'm thinking diff bearings MIGHT be hosed......getting any vibes or weird noises?

theres a slight screeching noise over 30 mph which would leave me to believe that there is either not enough or too much fiction on the inner edge of the seal which contacts the halfshaft cap. i remember hitting a pretty ridiculous height difference in the road and bottoming out while pulling off the highway onramp just prior to having this problem (chipped ecu prom threw solid red for a sec....it was humid)....could that have caused the shaft lip to shift somehow? in regards to the bearing, im not feeling any shuttering or vibration, but what would cause the bearing to let fluid through and past the oil seal? i must add that up until now, i was only using two bolts to hold my halfshaft mount to the block as i had lost the other. im hoping its just something im overlooking with the seal, as ive moved since my swap and live in a homeowners association now and have to sneak at night just to take my axle out.

in case anyone cares, i took the halfshaft out and finished it with some sandpaper. re-installed halfshaft with new oil seal and all is well. there were just some imperfections on the shaft that i couldnt really see while drunk and upside down at three in the morning with a shop light.
