gsr w/ itr valvetrain

So im in the process of building a b18c longblock for my coupe. Bottom end is cp pistons lowcr of course and eagle rods. Now for the head im going to run ctr cams and itr valvetrain. Will i be able to utilize the full potential out of these cams with a turbo setup? My tuner told me the car would love it but two of my pretty intelligent friends told me that there more for a race setup when it comes to boost?

most people say they're good for boost

I say buy my set of integra type R intake valves and valvesprings ;)

For the price of a set of ctr cams you can almost pick up a set of aftermarkets...unless you've got some kinda hookup. The itr dual springs is a good idea if you plan on plenty of high rpm.

yeah but you gotta remember that CTR= OEM quailty

after hearing tranceminister's zex cam snap in half on his SOHC hatch, i'm a little weary about aftermarket cams. Esp when there's CTR cams available, which are pretty decent. Besides if you're going with stock ITR valvetrain parts, then you've obviously got some sort of OEM theme going. Otherwise you could just go with some other brand of valvetrain parts.

But in my experience, OEM is best. Which is why i'm running a poor-man's type r valvetrain in my b16 O0

It's true that there are certain cam companies to stay away from. Obviously the $150 ssac cams are to be avoided like the plague, but the better companies out there have proven track records. Zex is more known for it's nitrous equipment than it is for cams, so I'd be leary of them to begin with. Crower, skunk2, names like that have been in it for a while.

Poor man's type-r? Is that 2 sets of b16 intake springs? :D Thought about trying that on my b16 to see how it would work ;D Just not worth my time right now with my stock b16 auto cams :P

nah, consists of ITR intake valves, outer and inner intakve valve springs (the ITR valves are lighter and are matched to the springs). Then i took the B16 inner intake springs and put them inside the springs on the exhaust side. So now they're all double wound. Also had the machine shop measure the tension of all the old ones to make sure they were similar, and they're still good. :6

a gs-r motor already has double wound intake springs from the factory, save the money your gonna spend on the type r cams and valve train and spend it on a good turbo and good tuning, a built gsr block and stock gsr head, (with a new intake mani. of course) can easily reach 400 whp with a good turbo, a big t3/t4, or an sc61, and some good ass tuning, i think the head work is over kill for a street car....
