I've had good compression and a bad HG before. It's possible!

Re: Great compression and LOTS of white smoke??

Well I finished the same day I posted, one day, personal record . Wouldn't of even took half as long if I didn't have to scape the piece of ---- composite HG of the deck and block. Anyway, I finished and it wasn't smoking at first, but the idle was bouncing and a lot stalling. So I reset the ecu and other really small things with no luck. Got late. The plugs looked like ---- from the gasket remover etc. . Put a new set of plugs in and it idle fine, no smoke, 99% sure this was a day or two ago now. so i'm like cool. yesterday morning it starts acting up again. I'm thinking it's the gasket remover and brake cleaner burning off the head?? I idled it pretty high for like 5-10 minutes, still smoking. The HG went pretty ------- smooth, the old HG came off the deck easy. getting it off the head was the only problem. I left a very little bit on the head that i couldn't get off with what I had...... The smoke is def. white haven't checked the compression again, but more than likely it's the same if not better. could a old cat contribute to it?? it's not clogged, cause I'm making power, more or less need to mess w/ cam timing and such, but it has like over 200k. ?????????????????????????

you need to not use a composite headgasket, get a metal one.

Beau was telling me on D15's and D16's Non vtec obd0/1 the outter headbolts can be a tad bit to long and can cause the head not to seal correctly. And if you actually go to the dealer they sell headbolts that are a few mm's shorter for this problem, guess its actually a TSB on this.

I used a metal 3 layer HG.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of the outer bolts being shorter. TSB?? I have a set of arp's I really didn't wan't to use on this motor.

cylinder cracked??? nothing obvious, all so it seemed to act up when I put seafoam in the gas tank, guessing it broke up a bit of carbon, etc. that's bonding everything. ----!!!!!!!!!!!, seafoam, ---- keeps ------- up my ----.
