Ok, i have a 92 JDM b16 SiR 2nd gen with LSD tranny (y21). I've been rebuilding it slowly and purchased an LS 5th gear from sohfast.com, but it looks nothing like the 5th gears i have.



the one on the right is mine. He said he sent me a 94-01 LS 5th gear, which is what is on the left. Looks more like 4th gear. So is it what he says it is? And if it is, then WTF gear do i need. I thought you could basically swap hydro gears between trannys.

 

come on, i figured Mista Bone or JD would have been in this one by now

 

Sorry to say this, but they sent you 3rd, oops I meant the 4th gear from the countershaft.


Count the teeth on it and I'll tell what it's from.

 

You have the wrong parts. http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/temp/Bgears.htm This website you can count the teeth and make sure you have the wrong parts. I also got the wrong tranny parts from both honda and Acura. Check it out and work out a deal with your dealer.

Nice info. I went through the trouble to make that exact same chart myself whenever I came across a different tranny. Oh well.

 

yeah but the DA teg LS is cable, and i thought you couldn't swap cable and hydro gears. Plus i want the 94-01 ls ratio :P thanks though.

okay i counted the teeth, on the one that looks like a countershaft gear (has the extension on it) it has 29 teeth. The gear with the synchro cone has 35.

Only thing i could think of is that i have the correct 5th mainshaft gear and a 4th mainshaft gear. Does that make sense?

 

Ok I will just buy your old gears!!! I can make anything work in 10 monthes before my next race.

PS To my little mind it looks like you have the correct 5th countershaft gear.

You got hosed, contact Jerome and get it corrected.

5th is thin, like the one on the right.

BTW, where is the other 1/2 o5 the gearSET?

That are called "GEARSETS" for a reason.
