Fuel parts list

Hey all, I'll putting together a parts list for my project, and I'm looking to add the 10:1 Vortech FMU (which from what I read should be fine for the 7psi I want to run).

The engine is a D16Y8. Do I need to do anything else to deal with fuel issues? My concern is with boost --> MAP sensor, the pump, and the injectors. If I leave all those things stock, will I experience issues?

you have a y8 in an acura?...and with the fmu you will need a missing link or check valves or some sort of electronic map voltage limiter

yeah, the D16Y8 is the stock motor for the 96-00 EL's. I'm still unsure of how this check-valve process functions. I understand it 'hides boost' from the MAP sensor, but if that's the case, how does the ECU know to send enough fuel? Won't the A/F be too lean in that case, or is that where the FMU picks up the slack?

This forum is amazing, thanks for your help guys.

right, that's where it will pick up. the fmu is boost dependant. is your map sensor on the firewall or is it on top of your throttle body?

im guessing your in canada or something...cause they dont have the el in the states. to put everything in prospective....the el is a civic here in the states. it just has an acura badge and diff trunk with diff lights. but same crap as a civic.

Don't forget the leather seats. :-)

yah in Canada our best civic sedan is the LX. we have the civic coupe EX and Si both y8. we also have a acura 1.6EL which is a y8.

you want a missing link to hide boost from the MAP. Injectors will work w/ that fmu. a fuel pump is a damn good idea. your stock one might not be able to flow the high rate of psi and volume that your y8 will require at high rpm.

Cool, time to shop for a Missing Link then. Is there anything cheaper or DIY than the Synapse one?

The MAP sensor is on the TBody, whiterice. As for the EL being a Civic: I guess the lights and trunk add 400 lbs of curb weight over the EX. :) I've owned both, and the EL is much tighter.. the doors have that satisfying German "thud" sound to them.

you can use check valves inline between the TB and MAP.
