Detonation Happens : BoostGear.com

I know I will get yelled at for posting this but it is funny and is the reason we made the shirt!

I would bank on detonation, any idea if the injectors were maxed out? By maxed out I mean higher than 85% injector duty cycle (not 100% like everybody thinks) ? Looks like the problem to me with out knowing enough to really point fingers.

I can even expand further by saying what if, what if the fuel was a little old, say 91 octane by the point you are burning it and the injectors are almost maxed out, i.e. no head room left, and blam they skip a few beats with sub par fuel compounding the problem?

P.S. - If you want to read/geek out about tuning in general, check out the Innovate Motorsports WideBand web site under tuner resources. (aka the FORUMS)

Engine Tuning Resources : Engine Tuning Videos/ Tips/ Basics/ Advice for Maximum Performance.

They talk about everything that matters in relation to fuels, pump, race, nitrous, meth, etc. etc.

I just got back from the shop that did this. I told the guy that the motor detonated to death. He said "i didnt tune it, I told him to wait on me so i can tune it". then i mentioned that the tuner new it was detonating thats why added the colder plugs. not a word from him.they know the f***ed the motor up. they said it was the head gasket, it was supposedly leaking compression. my ***. i showed it to him and asked him where. it looks like new. but whatever it done plus he signed a waiver. gonna build him another one.
