First time replacing head gasket
Im havinn to throw my b16a head back on the block and im on a tight tight budget. Im sure i will have to reuse the headstuds. Besides the fact im sure the torque will more than likely be off some ,is this safe on my bone stock motor? Is any done this?
while im askin questions anyone know the torque ill have to put on them? |
Re:First time replacing head gasket
if youre talking about the torque to hold the head to the blockm then I use 54LBS/FT remember to do it in the pattern as the manual indicates.

Re:First time replacing head gasket
that sounds about right. just follow the manual. you'd be ok for now. just make sure you spray your headgasket with that copper headgasket spray.

Re:First time replacing head gasket
you can reuase a head gasket if its not fucked up... but might aswell get a new one to avoid the almost certainty that it will fail after you reuse it

Re:First time replacing head gasket
i have seen them reused but would never do it. but dont just torque to one ft/lb make sure to step it and torque all of them in the specific order at a lower torque then to the same thing in the same pattern at the higher torque this will make sure your head dosent warp and crushes the head gasket equally
