a familiar shudder
 

i drove to work today(42 mi.) and then to the east side. about 18 more miles.. when i got to where i was going, the car started to hesitate like my dizzy was going out.i parked the car and continued about my day of work.

when it came time to go home. i pulled the cap off to see if it was a loose rotor causing the problem. nope but i did find that there was a small (but considerable) amount of corrosion in the bottom. i dumped it out and drove the car home. no problem as of the drive home

i have a zc and ive heard the the OE dist. is not very reliable. was it the ---- in the cap causing it to f up
since install
NEW cap, rotor, plugs and coil. oe wires .

at first i thought it was a sticking throttle plate but when it hesitated i mashed it out and the problemcorrected itself.,



p.s. still eating coolant like mad??? whats up u want compression #S i can post tommorow. if helpful. no puddle under car ??? ??? ???

Well it could be a bad head gasket. Is it smoking a white smoke out your tailpipe? Or you could have a leak in your crankcase. that would = no puddle. Check those and if that isn't it I will ask my mechanic at work.

a little puff in the morning. but not a whole lot it goes away after warm up. crank case leak. that would turn the oil to a chocolate color. nice and golded here. i dont think that it the problem. i know i have a busted tstat. open i think. bc it would not warm up at all untill i put a pice of cardboard in front of it(cold here ,ohio) on very cold days temp would hit about half and still steam (smoke maby) after a long commute. it may be the gasket.

dust under the cap generally means your distributor bearing is on it's way out (bearing rusts, rust rubs off, leaving the dust)... if it seizes bad enough, the cam can jump teeth or even stop all together, possibly leaving bent valves in it's wake.
if you can, get someone to drive behind you to check for steam... leaking headgaskets can do weird stuff - you might only be burning coolant at higher engine speeds.

all plugs have a frosty white color with minimal buildup.

i know the chambers are hella funky and caked. i ran intake SYSYEM cleaner through it a couple of times after the swap. i think it has always ran kinda rich. from the get
whats a good compression # for the zc

pm7 ecu. with abuch of spoon ---- written on it(case). inside looks stock.

if that has anything to do with the running rich idea.
