F22 Engine

Ok so I was reading up on the f22's an it sounds like a good idea but I am a little confused which engine is the f22 out of the old 91 or something accords SOHC. I keep hearing about single an dual overhead cams but I am confused as to which one is which. Which one is the f22 SOHC VTEC motor an can I drop it into my 91 civic or do I need mounts for it?

Re: F22 Engine

there are much better engines and easier swaps than putting an F22 into a civic. Its just like an H22A swap with 60 less hp

Re: F22 Engine

f22a and f22b single cam are from 90-97 accords. hey are low 8.8:1 CR great for boosting and have a pretty stout block.

jdm f22b dohc is from jdm ludes, they install in the same way as any F or H series. im pretty sure you can use the h22 civic mounts.

Re: F22 Engine

yeah i think the f22 dohc engine (JDM) is pretty cheap, like $500, so i guess it could be a viable swap considering it has like 160hp stock, you might go faster with it on a stock block vs the B16 if you went boost... not really sure, ive never seen that done yet, but you should be able to use the H22 mount kits or fab your own. I think RENR had one... Or maybe it was bambooseven

If you plan on putting it into a 88-91 chassis god luck has there are no bolt in kits available I heard the hasport one was postponed again so unless your a fabricator or have close friends who charge nothing for labor you may want to look into the b world for a bigger motor

Re: F22 Engine

Actually I am a fabricator for JEGS I work in the chassis shop but my boss is the biggest a$$hole I have been working on a set of traction bars that fit with the eg radiator for like three months now cause I can never get shop time. But anyway I didnt know getting just the sohc was that big of a deal, it doesnt look near as big an h22 but oh well if its gonna be that big of a motor than I will scrap that idea cause I rreally am using the car for road racing an I dont need that much weight in the front of my car.

Re: F22 Engine

not the size but location are the same has an accord mounts wise hence why you can bolt in lude motors in accords

Re: F22 Engine

if you can get the parts cheap go with the f22b1 thats vtec. the f22b dohc is not. if not, take your time and go with the h22 swap. spending that much mula for a f22 in a civic is gay.

Re: F22 Engine

its not the cash that matters cause I can get the motor an tranny for three hun an this junk yard by my house. They have lots of accords an they dont charge for what kind of motor it is they just have a flat charge.(It would be nice if they could get some z6's or b series cause that would be cool) Its the work involved an the weight of the motor in the car is the problem. Cause I want to use this as a track car not a drag car.
