External kill switch for battery

I went to the track for the first time this last weekend and didn't pass the inspection, because I moved the battery to the rear of my car and didn't put a kill switch on the outside of my car for the battery. Have any of you had this problem? How did you mount the switch? btw I have an 89 hatch.
