Default Exhaust leak and cat converter question

Ok, so a while back I was saying that I was bogging aorund 1500-1900 rpm. So the reason for that is I had/have an exhaust leak between the header and the cat. BUT since i had the leak, I noticed a nice little power increase..defenatley no decrese. So it got me thinking maybe the cause of my CEL is the cat is geting clogger thus the exhaust leak, becasue its recurring. My question is, if I were to run a test pipe or punch out my cat converter, would it help or mess up my car even more? Someone said something about back pressure or what not? Also, if I do get a test pipe, is there anything I could get to trick the O2 sensor to think its running ok so I dont have a CEL?

yes there are two ways of fouling the secondary o2 sensor i know of
1. some electronic ---- which comes in between the o2 sensor and the ecu someother design may not require an o2 sensor connected to it.. look on egay
2. there was a write up dont remember where.. you pu two nuts around the o2 sensor and leave a small hole for the sensor to read through.. limits the amount of exhaust gas that goes through the holes of the o2 sensor and limits the measurement

Punching out the cat or using a test pipe would be fine. You can get an O2 emulator for about $20 on Ebay.

Like so. Looks like just a resistor in a box.

buy the one off ebay that is for like 12 bucks and has a white and green wire shrink wrapped together. I run it and it works good. Althoguh it only modulates the O2 signal and not the heater signal. But i needed it to pass emissions since my O2 sensor was porked :P
