everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
lately this been happening. everytime i turn on my ac my car idles up and down when i'm at a stop or if i'm in trafic. its ok when i press on the gas. i'm wondering what problem is this. i have ls engine swap on 94 civic. i have one amp 75x4 rms. i thought it was alternator so i checked it at autozone but they say its ok for now. ( i'm not sure if he meant it or he was joking). what do yall think the problem is.. if i have no ac the car idles fine

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
thats an easy one, turn the idle up.
--either by the throttle cable, or by the adjuster screw at the top of your throttle body. *edit* your thinkin to hard about it. |
Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
raising it up didnt help.. i even redid timing.. it idles around 800 rpms right now.. didnt help.. anymore ideas??? can it really be the alternator?

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
tighten alternator belt...could be that the alternator is due for a rebuild.

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
I'm 99% sure that this is normal...

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
does it kept on jumping up and down or just go up once then come back down.??
|
Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
it will stay idling up and down. sometimes it'll shut off the car.

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
Isn't there a sensor on hondas that tells the car to idle up when the a/c is running? I'm not really completely sure, and I make no claims to be a honda expert. :P

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
i had the same problem, i fixed it by removing the a/c and replacing it with a turbo. ;)
i mother fucked that ---- for like a year, i couldnt figure it out. |
Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
YOU might have a bad coil mine did that when it got too hot and it would mess up my idle and bounce and my cel would come on .....i changes out the soil and the distributor cap and rotor and it was gone..

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
i just changed rotors and cap on the dizzy less than 1 year old i dont think that should be the problem.. the evac i cleaned that sucker up.. not the problem.. my fren as a new distributor on his gsr and a high voltage amp.. he is also having a similar problem but his isnt extreme like mines. his is bareable.

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
my brothers 2g dsm used to have a slight problem with lowered rpms when at a stop light (in neutral, 5spd). I removed the cat and started doing performance upgrades to the thing.. must have fixed something along the way, purs just fine now.

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
Oh god, it's the bloody AC, it's cycling on and off or the clutch is slipping. It says right in the owners manual the idle RPMS will increase when the AC is on.
Solution, 1. RIP IT OFF!!! 2. Install turbo system 3. Roll down windows 4. Enjoy a higher volume of air going through windows |
Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
replace your radiator cap
and use a cooler thermostat. I had this problem as well. It is just low coolant. |
Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
ok. i finally figure out the problem. the radiator isnt the problem b/c i changed a new all aluminum. ac clutch isnt either cause i dont see it sliping. i found that on a cooler day then this would not happen so i figure it is gettin too hot some how under the hood. so i put in some heat shields to cover the header and the intake and now it got better. still idle up and down but very lightly. big difference. hopefully this helps anyone else who ever had the same problem

Re:everytime turn on ac car idles up and down at stop
Allright.....I have been through this problem and heres a short list of possibilities...
1: IACF valve is bad or clogged 2: A/C is slipping malfuntioning 3: MAP sensor is getting a bad reading or harness is hooked up wrong (IACF/MAP plugs in wrong place, I felt like a dumbass) 4: 95- also had a VAC line hooked to the bottom of the intake. If this is leaking or cracked it will cause exactly what your describing This is just what I have fixed on other people's cars....happens so often in my area I think Honda designed it to happen.....good luck!! |
