Is this even possible??
Hello, I am wondering if a single cam bottom end is compatible with a DOHC ZC head, or vice-versa?? If possible, what is needed for this setup? Thanks...

Re: Is this even possible??
its like trying to do an H22 head on an F22 block....
A - its not worth the time B - its not worth the money as opposed to just dropping an H22 in C - you wont get nearly the same performance |
Re: Is this even possible??
actuly the dohc head has a huge Quench zone and it makes a great turbo motor in it could be done in a day if u knew what u were doing and had the materials

Re: Is this even possible??
it would be hard to use the hf boton end without hiting valves on pistons.
on my first a6 i blew the botom end. i had a hf moter i had picked up for like $50 well to make a long story short it got kinda messy and i ended up with 4 bent intake valves. my best suggestion would be finding a d15b vtec block or even just a usdm 92 95 d15 block. i had 2 d15 vtec jdm motors one was vtec-e and the pistons were dished as ---- http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/2615/image107go.jpghttp://img107.imageshack.us/img107/4646/image79is.jpghttp://img107.imageshack.us/img107/2319/image111ls.jpg i pult them in my dohc zc and it was like 7.8 to 1 or somthing verry low ran 12 lbs with 450 injectors on a safc2 for like 6 months and i finaly sold my motor and turbo kit and moved on to bigger better things. |
Re: Is this even possible??
Yeah i checked the write up on HT. Thanks for the info thought this may be something i will be doing in the future low compression in the 7's would be awesome. Goobs of boost anyone

Re: Is this even possible??
I think u should forget about dohc and just put a y8vtec head on a zc bottom end. That would give u one hell of a frankenstin. 12.6:1 compression with vtec. It puts dohc's to shame.

Re: Is this even possible??
Ya but 12.6:1 isn't too boost freindly!!! REMEBER this is HMT!!!

Re: Is this even possible??
I just want to rep a sohc cam with some power either it being turbo or just a something with high compression. Remember sohc are a dime a dozen you can pick them up anywhere for free or cheap. Not to mention the junker one that got swapped in my car when i get all my stuff together i will to a post with a log and some pics to give everyone a status report

Re: Is this even possible??
isn't the hf bottom end an 8 valve block? me and my friend took a dremel to one and cut in the other valves, it ran perfect. till someone blew it up.
