Engine swap without hoist, need info

I've been searching online for quite a while and can't find a good write-up on how to do an engine swap by dropping the engine out the bottom, without a hoist. I don't want to rent or buy a hoist to do mine and I've heard it's not that much harder anyways without one. Who has done this and can give me some tips or point me to a write-up somewhere?

Just use a skateboard or something with wheels that can carry the weight. On the way outta the engine you can just jerk it out with a rope or seatbelt or something. The junk motor that is.

The new one can get pushed in on something with wheels.

oH you better have a really tall jackstand. I personally always use a lift and find it very easy I have done it both ways but ya better have a large jack and stands to get the car high enough

the bricks are key...but watching a motor fall two feet is always fun....you dont need a skateboard or a creeper under it either, just drag it and lift up each side and put a brick under it until you can slide a big jack under it.

Disconect everything but the mounts, lay the car on the floor on no wheel with a tarp underneath it, remove the motor mount bolts, Raise the car using jackstands, bricks, wood, Hell find 2 beefy guys to lift the front end up! Then slide the motor out by pulling on the tarp!

Jack the car up really high and then use a jack with a board under the enigne to lower it out, then slide it under the car(you might have to tip the motor sideways to do so)then when you go to put the next motor in just round up 2 or 3 guys and slide the new motor in the engine bay and have them left the tranny side first put the main bolt in and then have them left the engine side and put that bolt in and hook everthing up.

when installing the engine back in. the mounts should line up if you let the car sit on its belly.

word id say this is going to be you best bet but id use something a little thicker than a tarp maybe or a pillow on the tarp
