Engine Mounts

Whats the easiest and best way to check if your engine monunts are good? I'm getting a small amount of movement of the gear shifter, but that is all, no knocking noises at all, I just want to make sure that they are good to go.

Visually inspect them. Is this a 5 speed? Put your ebrake on and engage the clutch slightly in first gear while someone watches for excessive engine movement.

Check your shifter bushings. A urethane shift stabilizer kit is a good idea on any car as well, they are super cheap on ebay.

put some prothane inserts in, if you daily drive the car you will hate life, but you will love the response you get from the car.
I have the prothane bushings in all my mounts, and avid aluminum torque mounts. interior vibrates a lot, but no engine movement.

yes do this, i just recently did the same(polyurethane inserts) and no longer have much movement from the engine. i have to fill the last one with window weld and i should have no movement at all. although i did think about a torque mount as well to eliminate all movement.
