Found the problem the other day. The dumbasses at autozone gave my bro the wrong distributor. He asked for a distributor for a 94 del sol (w/b16) they gave him a single cam one. It bolts up and everything but the terminals were way the ---- off, it was firing between cycles, no wonder it never wanted to start.
