Electrical problem please help!

My car gets no spark, and when I try to start the car a relay near the steering wheel starts clicking like crazy. This all started once I put the motor back into my car. I was getting spark when i took it out. Also, I notice there is a wire with a ring end near the starter that is not hooked up and I have no idea where it goes. Anybody have any ideas?
thanks

That is either the power for the starter or the ground that belongs on the thermo housing. That click is your main relay located on the left side by your feet.Hook up the wire[ground probably] and report back.

that wire w/ the ring is the thermostat ground

without that ground the relay will click like crazy! .. BINGO huh ;)

Well I grounded the thermosat wire and I started to get spark. The car stil wouldn't run though. I had the ecu just lying in the footwell and I touched one of the tabs on it to bare metal in the car and it sputtered and tried to start. I bolted it back down in its spot andthe car would just crank but wouldn't try to start.. any ideas? does the ecu have to be grounded?
thanks again.

I don`t think u need to ground the ECU seeing so many setup has the ECU lying on the floormat. I didn`t ground mine and it ran just fine.

has to be something else, look it up
