Eibach Sportlines on an EF, problems

Does anybody have sportlines on an ef civic? I've got them and I'm pretty happy with the stance and the handling but sometimes the back of the car rides like a brick. Its stiff as hell like there is no suspension in the rear. So yesterday I look under the car at the springs and the top 5 coils are touching. WTF is going on and why does it do this?

The bumpstop is that foam type thing that rides on strut rod, correct? No, I didn't take it out.

I'm not positive, but those should be progressive rate springs, meaning the effective spring rate rises as they compress. This would be accomplish by having different rates across the spring (ie. softer section will compress together and the load is transfer to the firmer section??). Made sense in my head. I'd suggest cutting the rear bump stop in half...

So the top 5 coils are supposed to be touching? I highly doubt it. They aren't touching in the front. What is the point of having those coils on the spring if they aren't going to do anything but rest on each other?

Is this really normal? Are the top 5 coils on the rear springs supposed to touch? Why don't they touch on the front? The front springs are progressive also.
