ef wiring nightmare !!

so i replaced my heatercore and it required to take out the whole ------- dash in my 90 hb, well i got the heatcore all back in there and the harness all hooked up but now NONE of my interior lights work and gauge cluster throws a cel but i checked the ecu and there's no code, if i turno on the blinker or the lights the cel goes away!! ?? what the ---- cause's this p.s. nothing interior works i.e. heater blower, tach, temp, whole gauge cluster except cel light, i tried replacing the cluster and get the same thing, is this possibly a ground or is it maybe the intermidate switch ?? anyhelp appreciated, also what needs grounded and does any one have the color codes of the interior wiring?

Ground.

Download one of the manuals, flip to the part where it lists all the Gxxx grounds.

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

ok got somewhere i was going over the whole car and i noticed the clip by the passanger headlight was undone so i hooked it up and the heater works now and the controls, but they dont light up and non of the blinkers work, the head lights aand tailights both work includingthe reverse however i think the gauge cluster isnt grounded somewhere and i cant tell where it ground to becouse the letters are so small,
also brights work but no indicator comes up on the cluster, the cluster and the intermediate switch are both hooked up, i know the intermidate switch works cause the headlight come on, but why not the blinkers? is it possible that the intermediate switch is going bad and causing the cluster not to work ?? also like i said before if the head lights are on the cel comes on but no code is thrown on the ecu .

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

well i ripped the dash out and im 99% every thing was hooked up, im going to hook the cluster and everything else up without the dash, is it possible that the intermediate switch or combo switch has gone bad ??? or would it not do all the crap its doing ??

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

I see two things that point me to one single solitary conclusion:

A) You remove the dash, and somewhere along the way underhood grounds are undone.

B) You make multiple posts one after the other in response to nothing, and when you have nothing new to add to the matter.

A + B = your mental process is completely and insidiously fucked, and I don't think anyone here can help you. I will try if you can calm down, organise your thoughts, and sift the Helms manuals for all the chassis grounds and plug connections. It's 95% on your end, feel free to sound some ideas, but "next time don't be so goddamn eager."

i agree with you 100% im very frustrated and just want to go drive my car again, however the dash is now removed, and all the grounds are hooked up, im going to go try and hook everything up with the dash out and see what happens ill tell you whats up here in like 15 min, thanks

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

ok i think im on to something ;D , maybe, there is one clip that i cant find where it goes ??? it is a four prong clip and the color of the wires are
1 red/blk
2 yellow
3 wht/blu
4 blk

im goin to go through the service manual to see what this clip is for also it has a little rubber insulation boot about 6 inch from the clip.

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

1 power
2 dunno
3 dunno
4 ground

I may be off on those guesses... but probably not.

sorry i didnt posted sooner i was out driving my car, the two big plugs that go into the fuse box i had switched around :3 oh well ---- happens and it least it was somewhat easy just a bitch to find out what happened and tracing all the wires down, thanks for the tips though helped me out a bit

Notice the direct correlation between not whoring the internet about the problem, and fixing the car? The interweb has some nice insights, but time with the car AND time away from the car/thinking about it if has you stressed gets the job done. I've had to let a lot of cars sit for hours to weeks until I was calm enough to deal with the car. Good job btw

yea i usually dont get fristrated with my car and am laid back about it, but wiring can cause a massive headache >:( oh well its on tthe road and running good no, im going to start a new thread here in a min. of the new motor and setup

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

Wiring is really the easiest part about a car. It goes from point A to point B and is color coded, Helms tells you where it runs through in the car. You know what isn't working, so you know what bunch of wires to look at.

The only time it's a hassle is when some other person decides to cut underdash harness - like, taillights and fuel pump, among other things - when doing a simple engine swap. Then you just buy new harnesses and plug and play, because sorting after idiots is a waste of time and effort... you can't outthink stupidity..

Re: ef wiring nightmare !!

I didnt read everyone comment but I think that its the ground or you forgot to hook up one of the wires. I had the very same mistake one time on my crx. And none of the electrical part works. So i knew I forgot something. Take the dash off again and recheck everything. Maybe you forgot to hook one wire up.
