Default which ECU? (p28/p30)

alright, i just finished the build on my b16, and im getting ready to drop it in and fire it up.......im wondering what ecu would be better to use...and why, or are they both pretty comparative, its a b16a1 (obd0) but i converted everything to OBD1 and im putting it in my 94 ex.....it had a ported/polished head, pretty high compression pistons, 450 injectors, msd ignition, im going to be chipping it, but for now, what ecu would be better to use with it (fuel map, ignition...etc wise) between the p28, and the p30, im sure i need more info to get a more conclusive question......just let me know what you need

If you are going to only buy one, I would say to get the P28 because it's easier to chip it. If I'm correct the JDM P30 is all sueface mount and it's a bitch to chip. I honestly don;t know if the are USDM and JDM P30's but I would go with the USDM ECU because it's easier to chip. If you already have both if them, I think that the P28 acually has the more agressive maps too..but don't quote me on it.

about everything you said was wrong. A stock p28 will run a b16 like crap. For one unless you have uberdata/hondata or a vtec controller the 450's will run the car horrible. From reading your other posts sounds like you dont have any of these parts. Throw a set of stock 240 obd1's in and get a p30 and call it a day. It will run good but a p30 is in the 200+ range. Oh and the jdm p30s are easy to chip just like an obd0 ecu.

I drove my B16 on a P30 AND and P28 and I couldn't tell much difference!! I guess I should know better than to assume that you already KNOW that you CANNOT run a stock ECU with 450's without some kind of fuel management...all I'm telling you is what I have done, take it or leave it. I thought all OBD1 JDM ECU's were surface mount? am I wrong?

Who gives a ---- how "agressive" you think the maps are. If you chip it, then it is a moot point. My vote goes to the P30 and some honda injectors.
