A dsm h23../

Ok well first of all hi my names mike, this is my first post but ive red tons of stuff on here before. I own a 93 prelude si. I bough it last year w/ 63k , its got 74k now. Its in good shape with a clean body. I hace debated for a long time as to whether buying a better car w hen i got older or turboing this would be a better choice. Because I've put lots into maintenance, and I've grown to like the car more and more, I think I want to turbo it. I've done plenty of research in recent weeks, and I think a dsm setup would be a good first project.

Because this car is my daily driver, I dont much care about peak hp/performance at 5500 rpm. I want something fast spooling giving me good performance with low/mid range power. Im looking for between 200-240 wftlb/whp.It's a daily driver with an inexperienced owner so I think you guys might agree it would be intelligent to get a small turbo and run small boost. I would like to minimize unhealthy strain on the motor. I am looking to spend 2000~.

I've been hearing dsm mani's bolt up so it seems like a good idea. Ic choices are strange, there isnt much ratings to go by for comparing brands. Ive heard spearco, megan, vibrant, or even ebay ic's work well(any testimonials out there?). A 1st gen bov could work i guess or maybe a greddy type s, sounds cool but im not sure if it would stay cool after hearing it a couple of weeks.
My main debate is turbo size. I've read here a 14b is too small. What about a t28 or an evoIII 16g? Keep in mind my application, i dont care if it maxes out at 5k. Also, for a small turbo, what exhaust piping size should i use? I had my heart set on the rsr catback bfore considering turbo(2.3"), but is that too small? Ive been told by some to get a small t3 with a small a/r and trim wheel size. also not sure about injectors.. new or used? dsm, do they fit? 440,450. or 550cc? I would imagine this would require a fuel pump/regulator. I havent considered engine management i know a good, reliable tuner and will request his assisstance both with software and with some installation.
ps. would i have to get rid of the front motor-mount?
Ive done lots of research, please dont direct me to the search button. Ive asked lots of questions and would appreciate patience because i am not a mechanical genious and that's why I want a modest turbo set-up.
thats about it. btw, cut my hand at work its in a cast, so i typed all of this with my right hand only, if that displays any degree of enthusiasm.

thanks, mike.

EDIT:
moderators think I should have placed this in forced induction? not sure.. I guess move it if possible. Also it was a t28 not a 25.

yes, the dsm mani's will bolt up to the h23 head with some redrilling of the flange holes.

t25 is even smaller than a 14b.
imo, a 14b is still too small, but it will do fine. but I'd much rather go with a big 16g. It's pretty much perfect for what you want.

get any IC you can get your hands on, as long as its a front mount. You could use a sidemount, but with that small turbo, i'd much rather get a front mount.

you would have to get rid of the front motor mount with a dsm setup. it's not neccessary, many people run without it. you can fab up your own if you're really worried about it.

use 450cc injectors from a turbo dsm.

as far as engine management goes, read up. there are maps out there for your setup, or close to your setup in crome and uberdata.

I'm sorry I meant t28! How would this compare to a 16? I heard they were close. And again, I have to fix what I said. My friend told me about the t28 he had, but i think its oe off a 2nd gen eclipse. Making it a t25. comparisons for both would be nice.
mike.

i agree
t28 would probobly do what it sounds like you want. if you arent gonna hit redline everyday then it will spool fast and have nice response.
get a p28 ecu and im sure you can find a base map that matches your setup pretty close for uberdata or crome

sorry changed a few things for that post in fi but o well....

can someone please tell me if i got a evoIII 16g and wanted to lower the wastegate boost setting how could i do it? would I need to do an ext. wastegate? Can the wastegate actuator arm just be lengthened?
please help me out, i want this turbo the most but i need to figure out how to limit the boost.

mike.

yea, i forgot. you can disable vtec though.

if you are a little handy with some metal, you can use a wastegate actuator that opens at a lower boost and make a bracket to make it work

p28's go for too ------- much, so just stick to a p06.
