Re: Dseries Main Studs
Why? Stock ones have been used to over 400 whp. And what's the piston-to-wall clearance on the engine in your picture? :1

Re: Dseries Main Studs

Re: Dseries Main Studs
yea i've been chatting with the machine shop about that one! they had all the internals at the time of boring >:(
|
Re: Dseries Main Studs
what did they say the clearance is?
|
Re: Dseries Main Studs
I would go back to the machine shop and start throwing stuff

Re: Dseries Main Studs
the machine shop has no actual specs on record nor would say their at fault but i had hold them bore .25mm over from standard because the pistons were .25 over, as you all can see it like throwin a sausage down the hallway vs. cyl. wall to piston clearance. I have not had time to pull the head and throw the bore caliper down it. If I do throw the block through the front window I'l be sure to get it on vid! :y

Re: Dseries Main Studs
If you're serious use a brick and don't record it. That's the way to roll.

Re: Dseries Main Studs
loks like tapered pistons for tard reascoinbg.. butwhy std pistonsit would work fineee
|
Re: Dseries Main Studs
Most pistons i've seen are .020 over, perhaps they bored for .025 for a 20 over piston.? Either way, they had the pistons so they should have checked

They bored the block .020 while using .010 pistons. |

Re: Dseries Main Studs
Sweet! Well the dealship here is pretty lame then, O0 they told me your best bet is get some from the boneyard! I laughed and walked out.
|
Re: Dseries Main Studs
seriously man what are you going to do about that block? that is not going to work so hot. .008 is about the most i've seen for an automotive application.
On this continental 0-200 I put together at school I had about .018 piston to wall clearance, but were talking about a 6:1 C/R 100hp 200 cubic inch engine, nothing high performance about that. |
Re: Dseries Main Studs
i'm going to be pulling it apart this weekend and finding actual specs, all i know is when it was assembled the piston to cylinder clearance looked pretty damn close, i dont know if thats from all the shiny parts or what, but that thing sounded like a diesel running and didnt quiet after warming up. i didnt like it so i pulled it back out.
