dry oil filter

Default dry oil filter

ok my 88si is my summer car,and i rarely drive it this time of year.just enough to keep everything flowing.ive noticed the past couple times ive changed the oil theirs no leaking of oil when i unscrew the filter.its dry inside with little evidence of oil.i have my feed line tee off the oil pressure sensor (not a sandwich plate).is a dry filter a common thing for boosted cars,or is this a problem i should address.ive only had the rhb5 on their since last summer,so im still learning some things.

dude, thats fucked. your oil filter should not be dry.

dont forget to put oil BACK in when you remove it for an oil change. your engine is under oil pressure. there is really no way you could have that big of a blockage to have oil not go to your filter. maybe you let your car sit too long bfore you do a change and it all runs to the bottom.

did u hook up the oil light? ive had a boosted b7 and i always have oil in my filter....---- always runs down mys hands.....did u check other places to see if there is any oil pressure? maybe unhooking the hose and turning the key with out it starting.....

the only part inside of the filter that i can see is the metal tube with holes cut in it, if you leave it for a day then for sure there is not going too be any oil hanging on the metal. you should only change the oil after driving it at full temp for a while, that way all the soot and ---- is suspended in the oil and is more likely to leave your engine during the oil change.

maybe not if your oil filter is oriented up side down vertically, but on honda engines they are horizontal, and should always retain some oil in them whether its been sitting 1 hour or 3 years

yes,sometimes the car may sit for several days before i change the oil.i know i have pressure because i primed my feed line and pumped out a half a quart on the floor.my oil light comes on while cranking then goes off when started like usual.
