dpfi injectors****UPDATED FIRST POST****1/10/08

does anybody know if you can swap these out for other injectors? my buddy needs a new primary on his dpfi sedan and its obd0 while the spare injectors i have are from a y7. i just want to know if i could swap one in and he'd be fine? anybody ever done this before?

****UPDATES****
ok found out 1 of the pins popped out of the primary injector. i fit it back in and now code 16 is gone.
now the ecu throws no codes.
the car wont ideal for ---- and shuts off unless someone has thier foot on the gas...holding it at 1200 or so rpm.
it spits and sputters and shuts off in no time. sometimes it will run for a few seconds or couple minutes then just die slowly.
also when the rpms get below 1000rpm, the battery light comes on.
now im thinkin its the alternator going out judging from ^^^.

i dunno, it drive me just as nuts as him..........

yeah a bad primary injector. the car runs and drives, but has absolutely no power until after 2500rpm. once the secondary injector takes over the duties it gets stupid. it spits and sputters and hes using way to much gas in to short of time. its the only code his ecu is throwing.

Re: dpfi injectors

have you looked at the DPFI injectors and noticed the different size of said injector?

Trust me you will never get close to learning it all. I have been at it 10 years dropped every dime I have ever made into this stuff and Im maybe 10 percent of the way there.

some things I've refused to learn, like ECU tuning, I have others local to me to handle that area.

lol, i will be toying with turbo edit here soon. but since you chimed in bone, i guess i can ask you this. is there any deffinent way to tell if the 5 speed 90-91 cable trans i have is an si or an dx/hf with the casting number or inside the trans? the trans case isnt bolted down because the guy i got it from did an inspection on it and had it sitting for backup. i believe that i read that all the 5 speeds say L3 on the trans. could ya throw me some words to help by chance?

Also you have most likely fouled the plugs. Go get a fresh set and take the alternator to vatozone for a check up

wiring like usual. :y

Im pretty exicted though that I dont have to look at these cars/parts everyday anymore :6

ill have him take it off then and go to the autostore with it. plugs are brand new, just put them in at the begining of the week. gapped correctly as well. i might just make him go mpfi here sooner or later.....and what with the ao or bo things. you speak in secret i tell you.

as of now im still not sure. its wierd, ecu throws no codes whatsoever but still acts the same as before.... wont idle and dies if not on the gas. i adjusted the throttle cable and still a no go. im beginning to think electrical problem somewhere starting with alternator and grounds.

Whacky idea, tried compression test? I've seen more D15B2's burn intake valves than I can think of. May explain some of the idling and spitting/sputtering problems.

Also, swap alternator or at very least take it out and have tested.

heres a better update than i like to say... he sold the ef sedan and picked up a eg sedan.... :'(

i told him he can no longer ride with me because he has a different year car than me now....but i can still smoke him with my b2/y7 with a 4 speed. he didnt believe me when i told him weight is a key factor when it comes down to it along with the power of the cars engine. now he wants me to start gathering a turbo kit together for him.... :3
