differential problem

i had my just had my axle rebuilt, it was making a shitton of noise, and anyway i was putting it back in i figured i'd go ahead and replace the axle seal to the transmission, well when i took it off i realized that the plate that holds the ball bearings for the differential was just destroyed, shattered in a bunch of pieces... i have a backup transmission i could throw in there, i was just wondering if it would be worth it or a diy thing to replace that plate that holds the ball bearings... anybody ever done any of this kind of work before? here are some pics of it to show u what i'm talking about...

Re: differential problem

looks like a OBX that exploded the diff baring from not being properly shimmed..........

tranny has to come apart......two new bearing are gonna cost about $40 plus correct shims.
