Deciding on an engine

Changed my plans. Since gas prices are :o i've decided to go all motor.

I've narrowed it down to a few choices.

B18a/b with type r rods and pistons with b16a head, not sure the compression ratio but with a b18a/b head it was somwhere along the lines of 11.75:1 iirc.

Itr head on b20 block with srp/arias pistons, stock rods. (yes, will be using a block gaurd and/or sleeves). I dont mind the $400 machine work bill.

B18a/b with gsr rods and pistons and b18a/b head with stock cams but ported with skank 2 valvesprings and crower retainers

Either way, it's going to cost the same amount of money and work. I've already priced everything. Choice one is what i'm leaning towards because everything is sourceable fairly easily.

Also, i'm looking to rev to the sky. IIRC, b18a/b cranks weren't balanced for high rpms?

ok,

sleeved all-motor on stock rods. WTF?

and you want to rev crazy so your going with a stroked out engine (IIRC the b20 is a stroked b18) could be wrong.

why not a sleeved (since your going that way anyways) b16.

then bore that bitch out so you have a better bore/stroke ratio.

high comp pistons.

throw the itr head that chris is selling one there with some CTR cams.

i dont know ---- about Bs but thats my two cents

B20 is an 84mm bore B18.

I'd do ported and polished B20 head with some RS Type R pistons with some carbs, cams, and an ignition box. Simple, effective, and probably 270+whp.

I'd go carbs personally.. and that means 1 set of cam profiles if you want it to idle at all.

I don't think that setup would hit even 200whp, stock cams ftl for n/a. Second all your ideas SUCK, sorry to say. Last you can still get great mpg n/a or boost; its all in the tune.

Wtf are you talking about? Where did I say stock cams? And everyone knows the best way to make high hp is with carbs. Learn to read. I guarantee my setup I provided put together by any average monkey will hit 230whp. More than that if they aren't retarded. I said 1 set of cam profiles aka no vtec, or how about a B16 head with some overpriced vtec killer cams? I think some Crower B18 B20 cams in a ported head is the better option.

I'd do sleeved 84mm B16 before a sleeved 81mm B18, but that's just me.

Or you could put together an F23 sohc, get a big fat cam, some big fat carbs, an ignition system, and an H2D kit and have at it. NA to me screams carbs. ---- efi for NA.

Just turbo it, tune the ---- out of your cruise area and get better mpg, more power, and cheaper than your stock b18 with vtack and all that other ----.......

Re: Deciding on an engine

word, ------- carbs for the own.

thanks for the correction on the b20.

and yeah, carbs would be sick and make good power. and mad simple to tune plus you get a clean ass engine bay.

but i had a feeling that most import people would shy away from them.

and yeah, go with the f23

basically what torgan already said.
