da9 ls v-tec turbo

can i make my da9 a ls v-tec turbo somebody told me that putting a v-tec head on my b18 A1 and a turbo would be to much compression and blow my bottom end is this true can i make my b18A1 a ls v-tec turbo

You can put a b-series vtec head on it and it will be fine for turbo. The problem comes with how you do. There are some precautions that you need to take care of before you decide to just slap on a head and call it a day. You gotta supply oil to the vtec head, buy the right dowel pins, use ARP GSR head studs, etc...

If I were you, I'd say screw it and turbo your LS straight up. If it breaks, well then do an LS/VTEC or just build up the LS block.

so ur saying forget the v-tec head and just go ls turbo

Scott-EP 03-27-2009 06:26 AM

its pretty much a waste of time really. just turbo what you have. if you blow it up and want to build something real serious then put the head on it later. your turbo kit will still bolt up to the new head.

+1 headswap would be minimal gain for the effort.

zero937 03-27-2009 04:10 PM

ok and if it blows im thinking of going a k24 or the nsx motor or a gsr k20

ls turbo for the win... if you blow it drop in a built b18

Blow It And Drop In A D FAKLAD FOR LIFE!!

Most of you guys are also forgetting that if he slaps a vtec head on, he has to first prep it. In which case, there still might not be sufficient enough oil. So it's best that he also switches over to a vtec oil pump, therefore making an ls/b20 vtec setup sufficient. And if he really wants to top everything off to make sure there's enough oil, he could slap on an OEM oil filter :P.

But after spending all that money, he still would have just the same amount of fun with just an ls-t setup.

zero937 04-09-2009 05:12 PM

but i would like to do ls v-tec-t

fastblackac 04-09-2009 05:29 PM

Hey

Could you do us all a favor and read up on these subjects. Even when your reading other peoples comments they are able to spell VTEC right, its not hard...You really need to do some research on the setup that you want, and what you want it for. LS/VTEC you will make very good horsepower but will sacrifice torque. The VTEC head flows more then the B18A/B setup you have. What everyone has stated thus far is true, and you can't just slap a head on and call it a day, there are conversion kits that can be had. Then you will need a new ECU and everything else mentioned. Turbo the B18 and you will see good gains, and good torque.

dont let the haters bring you down. i had an lsvtec turbo with stock rods (arp rodbolts), rs machine b16a pistons, arp headstuds, and a thick cometic head gasket. it was built for all motor at the beginning then i put the cometic on it and an ebay t3/t4. my guess is about 10.2:1 comp ratio from the 11.5:1 that it was with a stock HG.

the car makes about 370 whp on 15 psi. and it still running strong. i traded it to a friend for a motorcycle and he daily drives the car.

it was a nice car, very clean engine bay and I love your valve cover...

zero937 04-10-2009 05:44 PM

that ---- looks clean and i know you cant just put it on i know you have to do the convention and get all the good stuff i am going to build the engine from the bottom up with new every thing so i have done my research

dooooooooooooooooooo it!

turboknightmare 04-15-2009 02:50 AM

higher CR will keep yr low end, and b effective with boost with proper tuning, but persoanlly id stay no-tec and boost it...
