d16z6 into an EF swap questions
okay i just picked up a Z6 for $60 lol, si i figured i would put it in my wagon. It's an 89 wagon that is currently DPFI. i am just gonna reuse the tranny til i can find an SI tranny. i have a obd0-obd1 conversion harness so i can run my p28 but have some questions on the rest of the wireing. i seen a site where a guy used the z6 harness and just repinned the plugs by the fuse box in the engine bay, looks hella complicated though. is that the only way? is there any easier way to wire it up or any tips you can give?
thanks |
Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
you have to convert it to mpfi first to use the obd0-obd1 harness
unless you get the underdash hardness and engine bay harness. ;) |
Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
rywire plug and play harness
done spend the money |

wiring is 99 percent why swaps dont run right. either research and do alot of homework or just pay 300. Is 300 really that much for plugging in clips and going
I think not sorry china |
Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
IMO the money for the Rywire setup is well worth it

I think not sorry china i was going to go obd1 but then i decided to stay with my a6 because who needs v-tec anyways? so i sold my conversion harness to a friend It cant be that bad. I like to wire ---- tho I personally can send 300 bills on something i know i can do myself but thats just how i am. If you dont like to read and look at diagrams go to rywire. |

Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
---- 300 dollars use this http://www.boomslang.us/obd0to1.htm all the hardest stuff is already done
|
Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
i already have one of those. some reason i thought there was more to it since it is goign obd1 and not just a plain mpfi conversion.

Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
Shits really not that hard to do. Just do it your self.
http://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/d.../new-post.html every thing you need to know. if you can, pick up a SI harness for parts. There will be some sensors you have to extendd, that can be done by robbing them from a different harness.Use the injector harness, the wires and plug will already be there with the resistor box, makin ---- easier. Wire the injectors in at the ECU (A1 brown,A3 red,A5 blue,A7 yellow) and the resitior box wire (A15 yellow/black). Re do the crank sensor wires the The B10 and B12 and C1 and C2 sap. the how to explains it all. Re-pin where possible makes ---- easier. Just use a saftey pin to unlock the wire in the clip and pull the wire out. |
Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
Its not as hard as it seems. I usually go to the junk and take cut the harness wires that attach to the ECU from a 89 teg. Since the ECU is under the seat it gives you enough to wear you can cut it right at the firewall and use the original OEM wires to use for the injectors. I run the signal wires for the injectores straight from the ECU. A1 A3 A5 A7 are the 4 injetors that go to 1234 cylinders. The power for the Injectors is on the driver side tower ( 2 balck and yellow wires that use to feed the DPFI injectors) from there you get the black and yellow and run it to the one wire into the reisitor box and back to the injectors( they are all red and black and doesnt matter what order you wire them up. just make sure all are red and black to red an black).
Thats the one part. the other is at the B and C connectors and all you are doing is relocating the crank angle sensor and adding a Cam angle sensor ( blue green and blue yellow to the Dizzy ) its not too hard. just read up on it as i did it several times on different EF's with great succes and i hate wiring. c1-c2 move to b10 and b12 ( crank angle sensor ) c1 & c2 are now cam angle sensor baddabing....your done!

Re: d16z6 into an EF swap questions
okay i'm just gonna do it myself if it's the same as a MPFI.
thanks guys |
