d16A8 into '89 Civic Si

OK. I'm new to the whole engine swap thing. I have a few questions. I was told my a company on ebay to come to this site and post a topic and that you guys would be able to help me out.

If I'm going to install a d16A8 into my 89 Civic Si, Will I ........

1. be able to use the stock Si mounts?
2. be able to use the stock Si tranny?
3. be able to use my stock Si ECU?
4. be able to directly drop this engine into my car?
5. have to change any of the wiring in my car?
6. be able to use the d16a6 Si distributor?
7. have to change the cam sensor?

If the answers to any of my questions are no, please let me know what I will have to do in order to make this engine work in my car.

Any insight ont he situation is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone here done this swap before? or have access to some one that has? Can anyone tell me where to go to find more info on thsi swap??

Please feel free to e-mail me at cbirchmore@bellsouth.net

Thanks guys!
Chris

Wow thats the first time I've ever seen a A8 before. That valve cover is kinda snazzy looking.

Since it's just the same as a DOHC ZC it'll bolt right in like stock.
1.yes
2.yes
3.yes
4.yes
5.yes (swap two wires to make use of the external cam sensor)
6.nope(but hell this is HMT so if you can get it to stay on there with the existing mounting holes then more power to you) I don't see why not though.
7.yes...refer to #5.^^ Though I'd try to use the A6 dist and ghetto rig it to stay on then it'd be just swapping the engine like swapping in the same engine...same sensor plugs..and everything else.

Yea, it's from an EARLY teg. Anyone see any reason why I shouldnt do this swap?

Re: d16A8 into '89 Civic Si

So, will the ZC drop in directly? For the ZC, somebody answer all the questions that I asked about the A8. I can get the A8 much cheaper than that ZC. I can get the A8 for $300 locally. The ZC will cost me $800 or $900. I can't afford that. How much am I going to have to invest in order to get the A8 working in my Si?

Just avoid the early Teg motors they are alot of hassle to make work in that chassis.

Re: d16A8 into '89 Civic Si

It's the same thing as the ZC. Not the A1 from the 1g tegs. Look it up. Valve cover bolts on the same way as the ZC and uses the same mounts. It's more so a Euro engine I'm pretty sure of then a jDm engine. They used them in Rovers I believe also hence why the valve cover says nothing about "H" on it.
