everyone has their own way of doing it. I personally use the manual and follow every fucken step there is.....just kidding...I know 99 percent of honda owners dont follow every step there is. this is how i do it.
1-have like 10 cigs and let the car cool.
2-put on stands and drain oil, coolant(radiator n block)
3-SET motor to TDC, pull all plugs thats connected to head/int. manifold.
4-pull brake booster hose, throttle cable, pcv valve in back of head, under manifold, distributor w/ wires
5-pull harness off injectors, fuel lines, grounds, headers, coolant lines(1 on front, side of head, and back IACV sensor).
...Now...everything should be off head except the valve cover....if i missed anything.....then take whatever it is off.
6-14mm and loosen the tensioner for timing belt and slip belt off cam gear
7-pull valve cover off and pull the 10- 14mm head bolts off
8-Presto...you now have the head off!!

I'd change step and just ziptie the belt to the cam gear this way you just unbolt the cam gear and dont have to worry about the cam timing its best if you can bunji cord the gear to the hood this way there is a small amount of tension on the belt.

I agree, put the engine at tdc, and put a zip tie around the cam gear, hold some tension against it as well, so it doesnt slip below.. make it alot easier on re-install.

also another quickie shortcut is simply unbolt the IACV 2 12mm bolts instead of taking the 2 coolant lines off, its just faster..

Remove the head bolts from center outwards...

Once you get the head off, you are going to have to clean that nasty composite a6 head gasket off... grrr.. get a whizzy wheel for that!

posibly if your just changing the gasket or replacing the head just unbolt the intake manifold and push it back enough to clear the studs and pull the head off dont disconnect all the hoses and wires if you dont have to ..
