d16a6 head gasket
Building a uber cheap d16 for the GRM$08 challenge...
Who makes a thicker than stock headgasket , I want to lower compression... would it be bad if I put vitara's on stock rods? Thanks! JM ...NEWB! 89Si 00 VW TDi 86 Fiero GT Northstar 32V V8 66 corvair turbo 79 Caddy 56 Isetta |
Re: d16a6 head gasket
I don't see the point of putting vitaras on stock rods, the rods will fail before the stock pistons in most cases. If you run vitaras anyways that will lower your compression, why would you want to lower it more?

Re: d16a6 head gasket
if its cheap get some ls rods machined for it or at least shotpeen your stock ones, vitaras will drop your compression enough without a custom HG, look up the stock thicknesses i think that the a6 is the thickest but im not sure. i really want to make a car for the grassroots challenge, im trying to buy this 83 civic from an old man in town. good luck with your build and keep us updated.

Some pics of the gutted car , I paid $100 for it , drove it 800kms withouta hiccup.. has 200psi across the board ,but a wee bit of leakdown |
Re: d16a6 head gasket
how low of compression do you want? Vitaras in an a6 is like 8.3:1 compression, you want lower?

Re: d16a6 head gasket
The car is going to be primarly setup for autocross , I am going to run an IHI from an MX6 for a quick spool. Im going toport the head , keep the stock cam and basically just clean up the motor. If you guys have any good recipies for a build let me know.

Re: d16a6 head gasket
Looks like my d16 is dead.. comrpession is good on all cyls (about 200) , but it's burning oil like mad , i am running 30 weight in it right now just to cruise around.
Picked up a ZC16 from a buddy with a disassembled head for $60 |
