well i found a junkyard here in muncie indiana where i go to school. they had one honda in the mess of cars out there and to my luck it was a crx si. i made a deal with the guy for a 100 bux for the motor. i am gonna be swapping it into my 1990 dx. will the dx tranny mount up to the si block? ive never done a swap before, so should i get the axles and all that crap too? im pretty sure this a direct swap right? ive already done a mpfi swap. so im hoping i can jsut biuld the block and drop it in, hook it up and go? is that possible?

Re:d16a6
Yes the dx tranny will bolt up 100%. You can use your dx axles as well. Your going to use your dx wire harness as well. You will have to modify your distributor plugs if you use the si dizzy though, Good find for 100$. you should get the rest of the parts for spares if he gives u a good deal
my thoughts... |
Re:d16a6
cool thanks for the good info..and im pretty sure ill be buying a clutch from you in the near future. ive heard good things about them and cant beat that price :)

Re:d16a6
just a little advice... if there is nothing wrong with your stock motor, wait till u also find an si tranny before swapping... you will not fill a difference with that dx trans... trust me... you'll be dissapointed

Re:d16a6
yea, get the tranny FOR SURE before you swap that engine in, get the power to the ground. If i were you i'd be nab'ing ---- left and right off that Si. Good find for only $100! ;D

my thoughts... Well if he did the mpfi swap already, most likely he used Si parts and the new engine is ready to drop in, no extra mods required. If you don't have the money for the Si tranny, don't worry about it. It'll be better, yes, but I've running my dx tranny and still kick some butt 12 to 1000 ;) |
