D16A1 = ZC???
found a listing for a DOHC 1.6 D16A1 for 86-89 integras, is this the USDM version of the ZC?
if so why do they call it the ZC instead of the D16A1?? just wondering, thanks |

Re: D16A1 = ZC???
zc there are like 4 general versions of the zc
-dohc zc (typically brown top = 1st/3rd gen ----) -dohc zc (typically black top = 2nd/4th gen ----) -sohc zc -zc vtec and there are variations of obdX for a few of them The d16a1 would be closest to the brown top/first gen ----. If you have a 88+ civic/crx just drop the thought. not a direct bolt in, but it has been done (semnos did it I believe). |
Re: D16A1 = ZC???
yup the bracket on the driver side is a pain.
I chopped a normal D-series pracket en welded a piece of plate to it with a hole for the arm thingy to bolt to the block. I just bolted the tranny with 4 bolts to the blok. The brown top ZC was the strongest ZC i had in my car though...the black tops seemed kinda weak compared. |
Re: D16A1 = ZC???
^^^^
Internals wise? There's like a 15hp difference between a 1st gen Teg motor and a DOHC ZC. Define weak? |
Re: D16A1 = ZC???
wrong and wrong trans is different housing is different mounts are different so ya it has nothin in common besides its a 1600 dohc non vtec and the intake manifold also sucks balls compared to a zc. Short answer no its not close to a dohc zc
