yes

all the d16 cranks rods bearings head gaskets oil pumps pistons* etc etc are interchangeable

*will affect compresion ratio

Thanks man, I hope youre right, cuz in the book it shows different part numbers.

I ordered bearings for a D16Z6 they gave me some gay ass bearings with the guides tapering out of the middle on five of the bearings instead at the edges where they should taper.

bearings aren't something that either fit or don't fit. There are clearances involved. :-\

Oh, good job on selecting the correct forum too. ;)

Forum? lol, j/k

Well with hondas the clearances should be fine, the engine dosnt have alot of milage on it, I just need it to run.

I can work with the clearances later, but I just need to find bearings to replace OEM ones, and they kept giving me the wrong ones cuz someone fucked up the part numbers at the factory.

You do know there isnt a "stock" standard set of factory bearings for one single Honda d-series engine right?

Example.. My d16z6 probably has different bearings than your d16z6. So when you go to the factory and ask for bearings, they are going to ask you what color you want. Each sides of the journal can use 2 different color of bearings too. So its very important to know what came out of your engine so you know what to put back in. Thats basically why they sell bearings in "halfs".

When going to a place like pepboys or napa and ask for bearings they are going to give you the "green" bearing which is about in the middle of the specs. ACL/Clevite etc etc. Sometimes you can get lucky throwing these in, sometimes you can get real unlucky, thats why I highly recommend plastigauging every bearing cap.

But to answer your question, Will a D16a bearing fit a D16z.. yes

Thanks jeff, yeah I asked around and people told me the same thing. I heard alot of people getting lucky with low milage motors so I aint too worried. i'll just make sure all the clearances are within spec and i'll be happy.

It has nothing to do with mileage (provided the oil was changed regularly). I have disassembled Honda engines with 220,000+ miles with less than .0002" crank journal wear.

Honda cranks are nitrided (heat treated). This process changes the journal size slightly, therefore each journal needs to be sized individually. There are five letters stamped on the bellhousing of the block, with five corresponding numbers on the main journals. This combination allows the proper bearing size (color) to be fitted for that journal.

well how bad can it be, as long as i'm within tolerances then I should be fine.
