d16 head castings
ok dumb questions arise from me every so often. now i thought i read somewhere that all the head castings from the d15b series and d16a6 heads were the same. as the same goes for the d16y series heads. the z6 head falls in the d16a6 head category along with the d15b vtec/non vtec head. now the answer im looking for is can the d16y7 cam be interchanged with the d16a6 cam? im getting the gut feeling and the good old Jack Daniels feeling that this answer is no.

Re: d16 head castings
no, different rocker ratios and ramp profile since the cam is offset from the VTEC and nonVTEC design.
Y7 is a VTEC style head, just lacking oil passages. |

It's still an air pump.
How I got great power and mileage from my D15B7, tuned it like a 283 Chevy. Twice as many cylinders, three times the displacement. FLAT torque curve on a Honda? Attachment 15004 |
