D16 distributor compatability?

I am about to swap a d16z6 into my 91 si. The only problem is that the motor does not have a distributor. Does anyone know of a compatable distributor, maybe the f22 vtec out of an accord?

I want to say a p28, but I didn't look when I went out there today. It is coming out of a 5th gen 4 door.

Re:D16 distributor compatability?

youll need a SOHC VTEC dizzy from 92-95 to make it work right if you go to OBD 1. If you stay OBd0 you will need to use a diffrent ECU and use your stock D16a6 dizzy.

Re:D16 distributor compatability?

I am planning on upgrading to a obd1 system and using the d16 ecu. The only problem I see in using a distributor is that the sohc vtec is run off of ignition timing where the dohc vtec uses a cam timing vtec system. I don't see any problem in using a non vtec d16 dist, as long as it is wired accordingly. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re:D16 distributor compatability?

What Onyx is getting at is the dizzy needs to match the ECU.
OBD0 and OBD1 have different sensor 'tooth' counts. You cannot mix them.
Id recommend getting both a p28 and a z6 distributor.

But, since you already have a obd0 one laying around, you could use an rpm switch for vtec, and then chip your pm6 with an apropriate fuel/timing map. (with help from the guys in the managment forum) ;)

Good luck.
