Default D series Head studs

Do you screw the head studs in until they bottom out then put on the head and torque down or what? because i have a A6 block and a Y8 head. bought Y8 arp studs and screwed them into the block until they bottomed out, and the studs arent long enough after i put the head on. there are almost flush with the head. Kinda confused here. thnx for the feedback guys

i was going to say no but then i realized that yes thats right; its more like OBD generation

obd0/obd1 d's use the same bolts/studs and obd2 motors use the shorter ones iirc. either way the pn you want for the a6 is really for the d16z6

z6 = a6 studs so yes; if you have an a6/z6 or obd0/obd1 block then you need z6/obd0-1 studs to put any head on it.

wait, so match studs to obd of block? y8 block and z6 head would want y8 studs? (and like one z6 stud or something isnt it)
