i got a d16z6 block that i'm gunna do a build up on and i'm wanting to put a dohc zc head on it. first of all, can you do this? all the d-series blocks are the same right? second, will the zc headbolts work and what headgasket do i use? and lastly, which pistons and rods do you guys suggest....this all assuming i can even do this. thanx

O.K. I think this topic has been done to death, but NOTHING is impossible, but its not worth it either. I'll explain. It has been tried and being that they are both D's they are real close to identical, but one head bolt won't line up. its like 1/2" off or so. For the time and money spent welding up and redrilling the head or block you could just buy a vtec head. True the dohc head is more tuner friendly and will flow better, but if you want that then sell the Z6 block and get a ZC to save yourself the headache and money.
