D crank pulley differances

i know that the y7 and y8 have differant base timing then d15's and the z6 but is there any differance with the crank pulley from a y7 and a z6? i have actually searched and alot of what i found was Mr. Bone talking about how not to use a 1.5 pulley on a 1.6, but nothing on the actual timing marks. i know they mean differant values when on the motor but i dont know if that is because of the cam gears/dizzy or actual pulley. would really help if somebody had a Y and Z pulley to compare and post up or if somebody actually knows from experiance.

reason im asking is i have a y7 in my car right now but i will never boost another y motor again so i have a Z6 im swapping in to boost but i have no pulley for it, wondering if the y7 pulley would work. also would like to get the pulley questions out of the way so if theres ever a question again i can answer it or help somebody thats having the same problem now.

thanks alot, hope to get some good info. ;D

i hate the Y timing issues, as i have said in many other threads "---- THE Y'S" lol

dave is an awsome tuner, im pretty sure he has what it takes. now me, eh not so much. i just tried to tune the fuel tables and thought the stock p28 timing maps would be cool but ---- no, once i hit boost it felt like i was being held back, seriously. would see boost but actually felt liek some big ass invisible man had his hand on my bumper, defanitley timgni problems. i know JD took on a car and had alot of it figured out and he even posted some really god info in the Y8 thread that we started on pgmfi.org but then went back and deleted his posts because people couldn't read and were bugging the ---- out of him. another guy that has tuned some y8's is SOHCmSHUE or somethign like that, he posts here and HT and PGMFI. try and find him and PM him and see if he has any advice for you or a really good timing base you should start with.

good luck and post your results :y

I could be totally off base here, but wouldn't using GSR timing maps as a base work out well for the Y series?

Both the GSR head and the Y series have similar combustion chamber shapes with the presence of quench pads.

Generally this produces a faster burn, or at least that is theory behind it if I recall correctly. Therefore, less timing should be needed.

Just something to chew on.

sounds good in theory but its way more complicated then that
