Ok. why when I hit all the stock y8 settings it pops up a CR of over 9.7

Somethings off.

Just found this post. You're right, something is off. The piston to deck height isn't coming out right for the y8 setup, which means my figure for the P2P compression height, y8 deck height, or the y8 rod length is off by .2 mm (~0.008"). I am currently searching for a loose P2P piston to retake a measurement, as I am guessing this is where the difference is, I seriously doubt it's in the deck height or rod length.

Looks like the compression height for the P2P piston IS closer to 29.3mm not the 29.5mm figure that is floating around everywhere! I have made the correction on the site!
