d and b bearings the same?
it would make my life easier if I could just tell the people at the dealership the actual year and model my car is instead of having to remember which part I need from what car whenever I go in there. so are d and b series rod and main bearings the same?

When you go into the dealership and just ask for bearings, they will not be able to give you a set since there are about 36 different combonations of bearings for hondas. There is a code on the block, and markings on the crank (and rod caps) you match these #'s together and use the chart thats inside the factory service manual to give you the bearing that was designed for that crank and block.
Pain in the *** yes.. But maybe the key to sucess in why hondas last over 300k miles.
Why when you go to shucks, pep boys, autozone and ask for a set of bearings for your d16a6, they just give you this "one set" thats suppose to be standard? I have no idea. I suppose all the bearings they give you are greens (in the middle) But since every motor is built different you have to be careful. Plastigauge is your friend.. use it!
