Well this is the hybrid section, this should be in our general.

As far as cancer in crx's. its very common, If its in your 1/4 panals your fucked, its not like you can replace that ---- unless you cut it out of another car and weld it in, (massive body work) you could put some bondo in their I guess

ya i had that problem, front fender and rear 1/4 were rusting, and i had a hole in my rocker cover. Good thing I have an uncle who does body work on cars for a living.

He re-welded all the rust in the 1/4, new fender and remade the rockers, and painted the car electron blue for 2 grand, car was red.

I looked at the car some more both 1/4 pannels are rusted. The doors are fine. 1 new fender and a paint job it has a hole in the trunk from rust. It has some surface rust on the bottom. 126,000 miles on it. needs seats. so is the rear quarter pannel hard it's on the outside part. I am going to give it the key test. jam a key into the rust and if it deosn't break through it's good. Should I buy it it's a wht 88 dx. $500

buy it.... bondo it a wonderful thing. if u do bondo right (which most people dont) the rust wont come back for a very long time... but even if u dont do it right, it will look much better with a primer mark over the bondo than it did with rust. buy the car, thats a good deal on that car. i bought my 88HF for $500 with a little less rust but with 196k on it. good luck with it

dont use bondo to fix rust jeez. weld in new peices of the arch from a trashed random fender at a junkyard old caravan arch is pretty similar. Bondo will crack if its too think, or if it can get exposed to water. If you can't weld you can cut out the cancer, fill the void with closed cell insulation foam, sand it to shape, four layers of Glass, and a skim of body filler.

DOOD

I agree ... Bondo is not made to stop rust. Bondo actually can hold moisture, so it has to be properly sealed in order to make sure the rust does not come back

I fixed my 1/4 panels like 5 years ago and its still looks good today. Just cut the section out and clean the crap out of it, I mean make sure you dont see any rust around the area. Weld a new sheet of metal, Grind down the weld beads, and begin the bondoing to shape. After that ... Seal it, prime it, sand it, paint it, and clear.
